Clay Pot Heads DIY Upcycled Decorative Decor

Hi! Welcome to LilacsNDreams! I like to share thoughts, ideas, creations by me, and what many others are sharing too. Lately I have been seeing some DIY upcycled craft creations done with clay pots. They are so cute, and adorable too! Fun, decorative for the home and outside, great Mother’s Day gifts, and many uses.

Creators are using clay pots for these creations. They leave the terra pot the color it is, or many are painting a color they want, and then adding faces to them. They are so cute, and funny too! The eyes, the glasses with noses added, long curled eyelashes…some are using fake lashes for this too. Sunglasses, earrings, bows, necklaces, and endless possibilities.

All the pictures showed were from Pinterest, and 1 was from their website. They are not my creations, but are so cute I had to share them.

This was from their website shown and below all of the others are from Pinterest. There is a lot to see there. Check it out when you are roaming.

Aren’t they cute?! Is it helping with some creative ideas for you? People would notice, and it would be a great discussion to have with a group, or friends too. Best part is it would be fun too.

I hope everyone enjoyed the creative shares, and maybe help with some of your creative thoughts. Remember, if you don’t have the time, or maybe the patience to do your craft, search for someone that can do it for you. Many crafters will sell their things online, facebook marketplace, or maybe with some of your vendor fairs and markets too. Something to keep in mind.

Thanks for visiting with LilacsNDreams! Happy you stopped by, and hope you enjoyed your visit. Take care till the next time.

Repurpose Upcycle Reuse Restyle Pedestal Plate Stand

Repurpose Upcycle Reuse Restyle Pedestal Plate Stand

Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams! When I started to repurpose, and upcycle things I made quite a few Pedestal Plate Stands as my first projects. I would do different sizes using dinner plates, sandwich plates, dishes, and sometimes bowls too. A lot of the bases I used were made from different candle holders. Sometimes I would find a coffee mug, or different small candy dishes to use that would add character to the plate. I enjoyed using lonely vintage colored glass goblets to make some of the stands too. So many possibilities that I enjoyed, and had fun with it. Sometimes pieces were united, and offered as is. Then, some of the stands I might consider adding lace, ribbon, music sheet cut and shaped, and it just depended on my inspiration at the time what I would do. Below you will see pictures of handmade plate stands, some vintage plate stands. Some of the pedestal plate stands are from Amazon, Etsy, and found on Google.

These are some of the Pedestal Plate Stands I had made. Sometimes depending on the base made with it you could flip the stand over, and use it in another way too.

Below are Pedestal Plate Stands that were found with other places when you Google for the images of these stands.

I hope you enjoyed what was shared with you today. I take pleasure in sharing, and I have hopes that maybe it will help you to be inspired with your own creativity. Remember, if you don’t want to create yourself you can always search for someone who does make things like this.

Thanks so much for visiting with LilacsNDreams! Hope you enjoyed your visit. Have fun, be safe, and see you again soon.

Methods of Decoupage Crafters Use

                                                        Methods of Decoupage Crafters Use

Hi! Welcome to LilacsNDreams! There are so many ways to craft, and to being creative. Along with the many ways are different techniques used with all of the creations, and many fun ways. One of those ways used is decoupage. This has become popular with many as they continue creating their projects.

Decoupage is a way of transforming objects into more of a personalized decor for yourself, can be for gift giving, create for you selling online, maybe creating projects for vendor fairs too. This craft can be done by adults, and with children too. It does help to do a few practices with this technique so that you may find the way that works for you, and to be comfortable with it.

Decoupage may be done with napkins, tissue papers, wrapping paper, scrapbook paper, fabrics, and so on. With some of your decoupage projects you may also consider different sorts of embellishments to finish some of your projects with.

You’ll need to choose a base first of all to design with. Consider maybe wood, tin, glass, ceramic, metal,  or terra cotta. Interestingly I have seen different baskets used for this technique too. Once your base is chosen then you can consider what you want to decoupage with.

Next you want to consider which method of decoupage you will use. You could iron, burn, use press n seal cling wrap, and just plain old mod podge too. The ironing method does help with making your design smoother, it helps with removing bubbles, and some of the other methods might not have such a smooth surface.

Make sure you have other supplies there to help you with your creation. Scissors to do some cutting and trimming, brushes, nail files or Emory boards, sandpaper instead of using files, use parchment paper not wax paper, a mat or whatever you need to work on, and some like using a squeegee too.

To start make sure your surface is sanded if it’s needed, and clean too. Prepare items you wish to decoupage. Like a napkin you will need to separate the 2 ply. You will only need to use 1 sheet. You may need to cut, or tear an item to better fit to the surface you chose. Sometimes you might want the surface painted first so your design may be better seen. Don’t forget that once your projects have dried you will want to add protective coating too. You can use mod podge for this, or an acrylic sealer too.

The pictures used/shown are from Pinterest boards shared. It’s a great place to find techniques, get ideas from others creations, and so on. Also, check out DIYDaydreaming on Facebook. View some of her reels shared, and some of methods used. It better helps in understanding what to do with mod podge, ironing, burning, press n seal, using parchment paper…not wax.

Thanks to everyone for visiting with LilacsNDreams! Hope this gave you a little something to think about. Enjoy, and have fun with all your crafting. Take care, and see you again soon.
