Well now, here it is Friday again, and where the heck did this week go? I mean it seems like just yesterday it was Monday, and I had plans made for things to be done this week. Well, here it is Friday, and I have not gotten all done that I wanted too. Never ending job, don't you agree?

Frist Rule of Garage Sales and Junkin

First Rule of Garage Sales and Junkin . . . . Is to look under the tables!

Who thinks of this, right? Sometimes people will have a small cloth over their tables with their displays of items, and that can be distracting. Many times we just don't think to look down, and under that far. I know I am guilty of it. As I make my list for items I would like to find this year I am also making a note at the top . . . Don't forget to look under tables!

You need to remember to look under the tables everyone. Why? Sometimes not all things will fit on the tables right away. So, there they sit in the box waiting for room. But, many times those boxes down under the tables will be for sale as you find them. That's right. A full box can easily be priced at $2.00, $3.00, $4.00 and so on. At first glance they might not look like much, nothing is appealing in there, but make sure you dig through the box. Sometimes things are just thrown together to get rid of them. Many times you will find some possibilities in the box with vintage, home decor, items that maybe you can repurpose or paint, and etc. The boxes are generally full, or have an abundance of items to make it worth your while. Sometimes many valuable treasures can be found this way too.

It's Garage Sale season, some have already had garage sales, and some will soon be attending garage sales. As we all get ready for this seasonal change of joy with junking, and treasure hunting it's kind of nice to have some reminders of things we should do too. So, make them lists of items you would like to find, and make sure to note on there to check under the tables too!

Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams everyone! Enjoyed having you, and hope you found the visit a pleasant one. See ya'll again soon!

Getting Ready For a New Season Change With Junkin

Getting Ready For a New Season Change With Junkin!

As I woke this morning the sun was bright and felt much warmer, clear blue skies, light wind, roads had more traffic, snow is almost gone, and it is actually getting a little warmer out each day now. Old Man Winter was attempting to hang onto the reins, and make the winter season longer for us. Thank Goodness it is not working, and things are changing into spring.

Along with this seasonal change comes a new season of junkin too! I know some areas have already started. Down south they are fortunate to have been having some fun with some special finds, going out hunting, etc. I envy them, and am getting antsy myself with wanting to do this too. I know some areas around us have also been doing some things, and are getting started with the season changes too.

I cannot wait to get out and about, and to find some deals. Past couple of years I slowed down with shopping at thrift stores, yard sales, good wills, junking, and etc. I wanted to use what I had at home for inventory, organize things better, and to lower my inventory as well. It is not all gone, but it has gotten much better for me to be anxious to get out there, and go digging again! Vintage collectibles, look for items to repurpose, items to upcycle with, and find some lovelies to reuse too.

I have decided that this year I would like to make a list of things I would like to look for, and find. Other years I always get sidetracked at sales, and I always come home with a load of things I shouldn't be buying, or didn't really need. You know that feeling too, right? At least with a list I would have more of a goal of what I want, need, and it definitely gives me some ideas of what to stick more of with too. So, what's on your list for this year?

Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams everyone! Glad to have you, and hope to see you again soon. See ya!

Social Media Facebook Google Plus Pinterest Twitter For Whom

Social Media, Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Twitter, Blog, LinkedIn for business, pleasure, or both?

Social Media is a phrase often heard, seen, and dealt with today. You have Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, just to name a few. These days everyone seems to be posting to each other, tweeting, and pinning. Hey, even our grand parents are on Facebook now too.  Social Media has become a great way for us all to communicate.

For business Social Media is an excellent source that is a cost effective marketing tool to reach many people with. With just a click of a button you can feature deals, promote products, and just about any brand is using some form of Social Media for all of this.

FACEBOOK is a social network service that allows you to upload pictures, and share text.

GOOGLE PLUS is another social network that is a new service than Facebook. Here you can also upload pictures, text, and videos that you would like to share with others. You can share things publicly, or with different circles that have been organized by you.

PINTEREST is another form of social networking that you will find to be popular. With this site you use pin boards . . . like bookmarking . . . You share things you find of interest like vintage collectibles, handmade, repurposed, upcycled, recipes, blogs, websites, how to, and etc.

TWITTER is also considered social networking. Some see great benefits with using this site, and others are still confused by it. Here you do what others refer to as Tweeting things to everyone. These tweets are short, and only about 140 characters long. Read what people are saying, and you can join the conversation that is being shared.

BLOG is a platform provided by some places that people use to share thoughts, information, pictures, show links to different things, some use as journals, some use like a diary, and many use for their own personal interests and businesses. You have places like Blogger, Wordpress, Tumblr, and more that are popular by many according to your preference, and your goals.

LINKED IN is another social network site that is focused more for business relations. Like many other places on the internet is still growing, changing, and each time becomes better for those who prefer to use this place.

Keep in mind that there is much more out there for Social Networks that were not mentioned here. The ones I have mentioned above are the ones that appear to be more popular at this time, that have had some great growth, and over time have improved. Like I always tell many people there are many great ones out there that everyone will talk about, and mention. Remember what one likes, or finds to work for them might not be the one for you. Something that you need to test yourself, spend some time with, depending on your goals, and see what is a good fit for you.

How many of you use Social Networking? Do you use this for business, personal pleasure, or both? Would enjoy hearing your thoughts being shared with us all too.

Hope you all had a great weekend, and thanks so much for sharing your time at LilacsNDreams. Take care, and see you all again soon.

Google Reader Will Shut Down, Now What

Google Reader Will Shut Down, Now What?

It's all over the internet, and if you have not already heard this Google Reader is going to be shutting down by July 1st, 2013. Reading other blogs, and some searching of things this appears to be the original post from Google. There is also another post with Google Reader Blog that covers this as well too. There are more on the list shutting down, and it is being announced as their spring cleaning.

Not to panic everyone. There are many alternatives out there to consider. Many of them are being over loaded right now with the rush of everyone trying to download, and transfer things. You still have time before the Google Reader shuts down to look around, research some of them, and see what others are sharing about their experiences too. There are many places out there similar to the Google Reader that are also RSS Feed readers too. One of those is BlogLovin. When you search the internet, do google searches for "rss feed readers" you will gain new hope.

I am already on BlogLovin myself, and have had an account with them for quite a while. So, with this news of Google Reader it is to my advantage that I already have a place for this. BlogLovin has had good feed back, and is pretty user friendly to work with also. If you click here you can visit Me over at BlogLovin too.

Follow on Bloglovin
The process is not hard to do all of this. Just take your time with it all, and things will work out smoothly for you.
• Your 1st step is to go to BlogLovin, and get signed up there.
• Your 2nd step will be your sign up information which is self explanatory too.
• Step 3 will be your email verification, and the address to be verified with it
• By this 4th step you should see the Blue Button that reads "import from google reader" which you will click to bring your blogs over that you are following
• Step 5 don't forget to click the blue button to allow access for your blog import

Once you have that done you can then claim your own blog, choose your BlogLovin follow button you wish to use. Mine is on the right side bar that I have added to my blog here that will stay, and then of course above with this posting you can click that one too.

Sorry if I am repeating what you already know. Some do not hear of things, have busy schedules to catch things, and some sign in at different times missing announcements too. Whatever it is that you happen to have missed this announcement I hope it catches up to you now with this posting.

As always thanks for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams everyone, and happy to have you visiting with Me. Take care, and see you all again soon.

Vintage Green Brooch

Vintage Green Gold Tone Beaded Necklace Earring Set

Vintage Brooch Bridal Bouquet

Vintage Rhinestone Tree

Vintage Necklace Curtain Tie Backs

Bejeweled Picture Frame

Vintage Necklace Brooch Bridal Bouquet Some Repurposed pieces too.

Hi! Welcome to LilacsNDreams. Vintage jewelry, vintage necklaces, vintage brooches, vintage earrings, and Bling...who doesn't like this, right? I like to roam the internet like many others do, look at things, learn, read, imagine, and sometimes you notice quite a bit in doing this too. There are many people out there who sell vintage jewelry of all sorts. Their pieces being offered just "blings" the internet with all of it.

Not only do you get to see all kinds of vintage jewelry being offered, being displayed, people researching, but you also will see odds and ends of vintage jewelry pieces that are used in many different ways. Over time some people have enjoyed using their vintage jewelry that is maybe missing a stone, missing quite a few stones, and has been dismembered in some way. They do some amazing creative, repurposed, and upcycled pieces with these things.

Vintage jewelry has many times been displayed with different picture frames that were designed to hold several pieces. Some pieces have been used for picture frames, making vintage inspired bottle trees, using as curtain tie backs, and another popular one is for wedding bouquets too.

Vintage Jewelry can be found everywhere on the internet at venues such as Ecrater, Etsy, Artfire, Ruby Lane, Ebay, and so many more. Along with finding regular vintage jewelry you will also find those that have been repurposed too. Etsy is a popular place to find pieces for this, some can be found at Artfire, Ecrater, Ebay, through blogs, and websites too.

Above you will see pictures of some of the ideas showing Vintage Jewelry with necklaces, brooches, and earrings. You will also see some sharing of different ways to reuse such pieces too. I love the many ways you find the pieces being used, adore it, and of course I just plain like "bling"

Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams everyone. Hey, if you have some ideas of how to use vintage jewelry, or know of places selling some beautiful pieces make sure to share this with all of us. Would love to hear from you.  #LilacsNDreams

Thanks again, and have a wonderful "blinging" day everyone! See Ya!

Milk Glass Collectibles of White Blue Pink Green

White Milk Glass Candy Dish Compote
found at my Ecrater Shop

Blue Milk Glass Pedestal Cake Stand

Lovely Pink Milk Glass Bowl found at Etsy

Jadeite Green Glass Pedestal Candy Dish and Candle Stick Holders
was found with another shop at Etsy too.

Milk Glass Collectibles of White Blue Pink Green are amazing vintage pieces that have become more beautiful over time. Milk Glass was first made, or originated in Venice in the 16th century. The Venetians made the glass opaque, or translucent in several different colors. Those consisted of white, blue, pink, green, and yellow. The white color can be achieved through the addition of a tin oxide, or a bone ash. The name milk glass is a relatively recent name for this glass which is blown, or also seen pressed into a wide variety of shapes too. Milk Glass is still considered a luxury item, and is such a sweet collectible to have too. One good thing is that it can be very easy to fit into any type of life style that you may have.

Sometimes you will see people using maybe some clear glass, and painting it into the colors of milk glass that they would like for their homes, and their decor. They do this to be creative, or maybe because they cannot find the shape that they are looking for too.

Milk Glass can be decorative, gorgeous with some flowers, and sometimes some of the pieces have a shape of their own that nothing else is needed to show with it. Above you will see pictures shown as examples of the different colors, and styled that can be seen on the internet with various shops and websites. Some of the pieces found can be vintage, unknown makers, and some come from such names as Fenton, Westmoreland, Fire King, Jeannette Glass Company, and many others too.

Doesn't milk glass just have some wonderful styles, shapes, and some yummy colors? How festive it can be for different celebrations, using in your home decor, sometimes some of the pieces are repurposed and upcycled as I have done with some, and versatile pieces to adorn many rooms in the home.

Hey, I hope ya'll enjoyed this little bit of information shared about Milk Glass, and found it helpful for your needs. They make wonderful gifts too! Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams, and hope to see you all again soon. Take care everyone, and enjoy the day!

Repurpose, Upcycle, Recycle, Reuse With Discarded Items

Repurpose, Upcycle, Recycle, Reuse With Discarded Items

Hello everyone at LilacsNDreams! Glad you are stopping by. Like many others I like to roam the internet, read magazines, visit blogs and websites, and learn things along the way. With this, and so much more I see creations done by different people, what they have done, how they have done it, and am in aww over everything that I see all the time.

Definitions I found to words when they were googled is:

Repurpose: take one thing, and use it for something else. For instance a shirt could be used to make a handbag, or some type of shopping bag. Dinner plates used to make cake pedestal stands, cups and saucers used for candy dishes, jewelry holders, candle holders, and the imagination is endless.

Upcycle: is familiar to recycling in that you are taking something, and reworking it into a new form for continued use. Main difference is that you are not altering its form back into its components for reuse.

Recycle: return to a previous stage of cyclic process; convert waste to a reusable material. Example would be a box being broke down into making new cardboard.

Reuse: whatever the purpose you basically reuse the item for the same purpose more than one time.

Giving new life to items that you already own. There are so many things around the home that people can do this with. The possibilities are there by using maybe a little paint, some wax, varnish, glue, fabrics, lace, buttons, clothing, door knobs, hooks, pottery, glassware, dinnerware, silverware, vintage collectibles, and pretty much anything extra you having sitting around.

Coffee Tea Pots can be used for planters, holding your utensils in the kitchen, making some adorable coffee pot people that I have seen before. Use chairs, ladders, ironing boards to hold some books, hang on a wall, hold flower pots, and again endless possibilities.

I just adore bits, and pieces from the past being made into something new for us all to enjoy with our homes, yards, decor, and etc. Sometimes I hope with this being done that it too would help remind everyone of simpler times.

Wow! See how much fun junk can be? I hope everyone enjoyed this topic today, maybe get a smile about something remembered, see things in a different way, and of course to help you with some creative ideas. After all we are all collectors of a little bit of everything. If you don't reuse pieces as they are, why not consider repurposing them in ways that puts a smile on your face too.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams! Don't forget to share some of your ideas, or techniques with us too. Enjoy, have fun, and be safe everyone. See you again soon.

Repurpsoed Upcycled Reused Reconstructed Vintage Items

Old Vintage Drawer repurposed into a wall shelf, or storage piece to use. This item was found with the bhg.com site.

Here is an old vintage suit case that was used to make this medicine cabinet in the bathroom. How neat is that? This item was found with pinterest.com

I have seen many different things done with old, vintage, antique mirror frames. This is one that you will see done often. I found this from a seller at Etsy.

Repurposed, Upcycled, Reused, Reconstructed Items of Vintage being used for some of these homemade techniques. So, what do you think, and do you approve of it?

Hi there, and Welcome back to LilacsNDreams! I have something I was curious about something, and wanted to kind of put this out there for others to read, consider, and share with us about.

With vintage items there has been an issue of repurposing, upcycling, recycling, homemade, altering, reusing, and reconstructing such pieces. Some pieces that sometimes are used might have a minor flaw with it, maybe it is a lonely item left from a set, maybe something that didn't sell, odds and end piece collecting dust. something headed to the dumpster, etc. There are some pieces that might have any flaws, has lived a glorious life, but the owner wishes to show the item in an updated from that would fit with the times of today. Whatever the reason may be there are pieces of vintage that are used with repurposing, upcycling, recycling, reusing, reconstructing, and so on.

There are some who have strong feelings that vintage pieces should not be used in these techniques, or altered in any way. They feel they should not be used for any crafting form. Quite some time ago I did see a comment made about repurposing being the end of all antiques.

Then you have others comment about preserving things that have been damaged, or greatly loved over the years. So, why not make them into something that is wonderful after they have seen their glory days. Another thought was taking something old, and creating it into something new again would create potential for new collectors that maybe were not reached before.

Antiques, or vintage often reminds people of their grandmothers things, and this would not be the in style for the younger generation. With this some feel that antiques are being destroyed, and this would be then end to all antiques.

I love things that are old, I adore things that have a past, I love to learn about these things, and I so enjoy the stories with different pieces too. Even though I like some of these pieces that do not fit fully into the decor of our home, and with the taste of other family members either. Now, if they are updated in some small way they seem to be better accepted.

Over time I have seen some who adore treasures in this way, and I have also seen those who enjoy vintage treasures as they are, and being upset with this craft that is growing. So, without any arguments, no heated discussions, what do you think of this? How do you feel about it? I ask you to please be comfortable in sharing, and to please remember that everyone has their own opinions. There is no right, or wrong answer to this. Please respect everyone when replying to this issue.

I thank you for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams, and I appreciate those who comment, share, and contact Me with personal messages too. Have a super Wednesday, and see you all again soon.

Repurpose Upcycle Liquor Bottles for Home Decor

Repurpose Upcycle Liquor Bottles For Home Decor

Hello again, and Welcome back to LilacsNDreams! I just love it when people share their ideas, show pictures of what they have done, and knowing how we can do some of these projects inexpensively too. Ever have one of those moments when you see something, and think "Who Would Have Thought?" Don't worry, it happens to me quite often.

Above you will see a picture of bottles that are used for decor with the bathroom. Use some lotions in them, sweet smelling bath salts or bath oils, and so on. Now, the bottles you see above are liquor bottles that have been cleaned out, and decorated for this purpose. Neat idea, huh? You know it doesn't always have to be the liquor bottles either. If you find other bottles at home that have some of the distinctive shaping for this purpose it is great to use them too. Clean the bottles out good, maybe add a printed label to decorate it, add some burlap string tied into a bow, and you get the picture. I found this picture at Pinterest, and it showed there that this came from Sublime-Decor.com

Sometimes these bottles are great to show on your dressers, vanities, on the counter in the kitchen filled with kitchen accents, put a couple of them on a shelf, maybe a mantel, and so many possibilities when you repurpose and upcycle different pieces.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and that you enjoyed your visit with LilacsNDreams today. Hope I was able to give you some more ideas to either do with your own home decor, or maybe give someone a gift for theirs too. Thanks for sharing your time with Me today, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and have a great Monday everyone!

DIY Ideas For Hanging Curtains and Saving Some Money

DIY Ideas For Hanging Curtains and Saving a Little Money too!

Hello, and Welcome back to LilacsNDreams! I just love DIY ideas, don't you? If I can use what I have at home, from thrift stores, second hand stores, and etc to give our home it's own character I will do it. I enjoy the low cost of doing this, and after saving money with some of these home projects it gives me more to spend some where else. Now, that is something I like!

Above you will see a couple of pictures that I had found with Pinterest again. That place is really cool. So many ideas, and instructions being shared there it is very addictive. You could spend all day looking, looking, and doing some more looking to make some notes, or as many do bookmark things too. You should give it a visit some time if you haven't already. I will worn you though, it can be addictive.

The first picture above is from DIYideas.com. What they did there was use some napkin rings, and some ribbon. They added to curtains of their choice, and made these. I like the idea of napkin rings as there is generally a good selection of those in colors, shapes, sizes, designs, and etc. Ribbon is always a good touch to add to many things. With this method you could be creative as you can with the picture below it too. That second picture came from bhg.com. Another good place to find some ideas that are shared too. With these curtains they used to make a ring for them they used ribbon only, and tied a little bow to them. Great concept as you could use any color of ribbon, texture, and design.

What is great with this method of doing curtains is when you feel the need for a change you won't always have to change your curtains. Instead you could just change the ribbons being used, change the napkin rings, shower curtains rings, and you get the picture.

So, for those who like to do their own thing at home, save a penny or two doing it, this is another method of adding to your list of to dos, list of ideas, and all those wonderful notes that we all make for ourselves. I hope you enjoyed this idea shared with you, and that you find it helpful with the dressing of your homes. Hey, if you have something else that you use it would be great to hear about it, and we would enjoy having you share it here with all of us too.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams everyone. Hope you enjoyed the visit, and it would be great to see you again. Take care till the next time!

Cupcake Holder, Food Stand Organizer, Single Plate Stand

Cupcake Holder makes a wonderful coffee bar with storage for that cup of coffee. This 3 tier cupcake holder stand has many possibilities for it's use.

Another way to use a single plate stand. Store some of your sweet smelling perfumes, and sprays in the bathroom. Also, would be great for your dressers too.

Here is another Food Stand organizer shown with organization for the bathroom. This 2 tier food stand organizer has many possibilities for use in the home.
Cupcake Holder, Food Stand Organizer, and the Single Plate Stand is shown here with these pictures.

Hey, Welcome back to LilacsNDreams, and glad to have you stopping by! Above you will see pictures that I found when in roaming on Pinterest. A lot of my interest over these past few months has been with making these different stands. I adore the many ways that others also share of how they can come together, and what they can actually be considered for with use of them.

Thinking outside the box is just so much fun when it comes to repurposing, upcycling, recycling, and reusing different pieces, don't you think? All sorts of different pieces can come together to make many things to accompany us with our homes with our decor, and for use too.

These stands are great for organizing, serving, displaying with, and using as some of our home decor. They are great when used at the table with wedding decor, at bridal showers, and just so many things to consider for their use.

Most common things you will see these different stands used for is as cake stand, cupcake stand, dessert pedestal stand, etc. Use to serve some cookies, truffles, candies, mints, cake, cupcakes, and some fruit too. Maybe consider them with your home decor as candle holders, soap dishes, in the bathroom with some rolled cloths for your guests, jewelry dish, a catch all for your change, keys, and reading glasses too. Excellent to use for organizing in your kitchens, in the bathrooms, on the dresser and vanities, in your office, and so many endless possibilities.

So, for all you thrifters and junkers when you are out, and about doing your thing maybe consider finding some pieces to make some of these for your homes, given as gifts, and etc. I enjoy making pieces with endless possibilities to be shared, don't you?

Hey, thanks again for sharing your time here with LilacsNDreams everyone. Happy to have you dropping by, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and have a beautiful week!
